Born in Sawah Lunto, West Sumatera, 21 November 1929. After having passed preliminary, secoodmy and high schools, continued to study shipbuilding at the Institute of Naval Architecture, Tokyo.

Government official from 1957 till 1985 at the Ministry of Shipping that later on changed name into Directorate General of Sea Communication under the Ministry of Communications, Jakarta.

Tasks and assignments accomplished:
 1. Manager of a State-owned shipyard formerly called the Verenigde Prauen Veer NV,
     Jakarta.
 2. Staff in the Directorate of Shipbuilding lndustry. Ministry of lndustry, responsible for
     production.
 3. Supervisor for Indonesia for ships built in Japan, stationed in Tokyo.
 4. Assigned to Indonesian Embassy in tokyo, responsible for maritime matters.
 5. Staff in the Directorate General of Sea Communication, responsible for Ships
     Technology & Ship Building Project.
 6. Advisor to the Director General of Sea Communication.
 7. Coordinator of Seacom Projects financed by foreign loans or foreign aids including
     several kind of ships built in Europe and Japan.
 8. Member of the Board of Directors of PT IPPA Shipyard, Jakarta.
 9. Member of the Board of Directors of PT Dok Surabaya. Surabaya.
10. Member of the Board of Directors of PT PAL INDONESIA, Surabaya.
